1996 was headlined by Irish superstar Davie Spillane with his six-piece band and saw the start of the Saturday afternoon concerts, which eventually would become ‘Doon the Green’. The first Open Air concert was held beside the ferry terminal and putting green.
This is also the first year that Survivors Night was held in the Victoria Hall, with headliners, the Wee Toon Tellers, closing the Festival with a mighty performance that made this concert into such a legendary night.
