Justin Currie Band / Attic Lights Concert
Headlining at the Victoria Hall on Saturday 23rd is well
known prolific artist Justin Currie of Del
Amitri with support being provided by Attic
Lights, a new up and coming Glasgow band.
Justin who will be appearing with his
full band The Justin Currie Band fronted Del
Amitri in the eighties and as a songwriter, he co-wrote
many of the Del Amitri tracks with Iain Harvie, with
some of their most successful songs have been tracks
penned solely by Justin.
Del Amitri had great success with the
hits “Nothing Ever Happens”, “Roll To Me”, Kiss This
Thing Goodbye” and “Always The Last To Know”.
In 2003 he fronted the
soul and
jazz covers band Button Up for a short tour
of Scotland together with
The Proclaimers guitarist Stuart Nisbet and
drummer Ross McFarlane - who also played with
chart-toppers
Stiltskin - bassist Gary John Kane and
keyboard player Andy May.
From 2004 - 2006 Currrie has regularly
joined singer songwriters
Eddi Reader and Colin McIntyre (aka
Mull Historical Society) and Scottish folk
band
Blazin' Fiddles to perform in Scotland as
part of the project "With Strings Attached".
In
2004 Currie also teamed up with Kevin and Jim McDermott
(of
Simple Minds) to record
A
Terrible Beauty, a semi-comedy 60's pastiche
rock album which they released anonymously under the
name
The Uncle Devil Show.
Recently he has toured as both successful
solo artist and with his full band, last year releasing
his latest solo CD "What Is Love For" to critical
acclaim.

Attic
Lights
who have recently signed a five CD deal with Island
Records released their second single “God” on May 5th
are currently recording their debut album with producer
Francis Macdonald (Teenage Fanclub, Camera Obscura and
Shoeshine Records). Band members Kevin Sherry, Tim
Davidson, Colin McArdle, Noel O'Donnell and Jamie
Houston have created a sound inspired by The Beach Boys,
Flaming Lips, Teenage Fanclub and Guided By Voices.
Hotly tipped as one of the bands to watch out for this
year they are appearing at various festivals across
Scotland this year following their appearance at the T
Break Stage at T in the Park in 2006.
