NEW EVENT – Up the Close

We’ve got an early notice announcement for traders and voluntary organisations tonight about this years Saturday afternoon event.

‘DOON THE GREEN’ becomes UP THE CLOSE.’

The event known previously as ‘Doon the Green’ is on the move to a new location at Springbank Distillery, Well Close, Longrow, Campbeltown, and, will be held on Saturday 11th August 2018 from 1pm to 5pm. For obvious reasons the event has also changed its name and from now on will be known and advertised as ‘Up the Close.’

The event, which will take place with the kind permission of the Directors of Springbank Distillery, will try to follow as close to our normal format as is possible, and will have the usual number of bands bands (Deep JoyThe Twisted Melons & Treble Trouble), dance groups, children’s entertainment (with Funkychickenfun) and a collection of voluntary stalls and food outlets.

The main difference will be a reduction in available space and, of course, the different lay-out and logistics of the new open-air venue. Therefore, the number of available pitches will be less than is normal, this to comply with the dimensions of the new venue. In an effort to conduct as fair an allocation of space as is possible, all pitches will now be allocated on a first-come basis.

We would also like to advise that set-up of stalls etc should take place within the period allocated at the time of booking, and, for safety reasons, also suggest that late arrivals could be denied entry to the site.

If interested, please email mokfest@hotmail.co.uk or message us and we will pass you on to Catrona who helps organise the event. If you definitely wish to book a stall or pitch contact us as soon as possible.

Finally, we hope you enjoy the new venue and that it will offer greater protection from the unpredictable British weather. The aim of moving to our new venue is to ensure that the event can go ahead this year.

We look forward to seeing you.
